Started with 1.08 billion 2 years ago
The British Virgin Islands-registered company called Vision Perfect Global Limited bought the 45-room property in April 2020 for £210 million (RM1.08 billion), according to documents from the UK Land Registry.
A spokesman for Beauchamp Estates declined to comment.
A representative for Evergrande declined to comment. The Financial Times earlier reported that Chinese billionaire Zhang Songqiao came forward to buy the property for Xu Jiayin. Zhang Songqiao is the founder of real estate company Zhongyu Land.
Xu Jiayin, once one of China's richest men, sold assets after a slump in the property market caused developers such as China Evergrande to default.
Xu Jiayin's net worth fell to around US$6 billion (RM27.9 billion) from US$30 billion (RM139.5 billion) at the end of 2019.
